Arsenal’s latest signing, Viktor Gyökeres, was officially unveiled to the club’s fans on Sunday as he stepped out in an Arsenal jersey for the first time at the Singapore National Stadium ahead of their preseason clash with Newcastle United.
The Swedish international, who recently completed his move to North London after a prolific spell with Sporting CP, has now joined Arsenal’s preseason tour and begun training with Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Gyökeres received a warm welcome from the Arsenal faithful in Singapore as he was introduced on the pitch before kickoff. His presence added extra excitement to an already electric atmosphere, marking a symbolic beginning to what fans hope will be a goal-laden journey in red and white.

In his first official interview as an Arsenal player, the 26-year-old forward expressed his eagerness to get started and his hunger for goals.
“I always want to score. To be a part of this club and to score in this kit and with this badge in front of all the supporters, I can’t wait. It will be an amazing feeling,” Gyökeres said.
Reflecting on his journey from his early days in England to becoming one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers, he added:
“I started here in England, it feels like a long time ago. I think I’ve improved a lot since then. Now I want to prove myself for real and perform together with the team.”
Gyökeres, who netted multiple goals in the Champions League last season and starred for Sweden on the international stage, believes Arsenal is the perfect environment to take his game to even greater heights.
“When I played at Sporting, I scored a few goals in the Champions League so I feel that I can be on that level as well. Now to come here to a club on Arsenal’s level, I think it’s going to help me perform even better with all the amazing players in this team. I’m really excited to get going.”
As Arsenal continue their preparations for the new Premier League season, all eyes will be on Gyökeres to see how quickly he can settle in and start delivering for the Gunners.
